What to do in Ciudadela

Ciudadela, the old capital of Menorca, is considered one of the most beautiful towns on the island. Its beautiful historic centre and small natural harbour are sure to win you over at first sight.


You can start your tour of the city at the Plaza des Born, the main entrance to the historic centre, which is also presided over by the town hall and surrounded by various buildings of interest, such as the Torressaura palace and the theatre. In the centre of the square is an obelisk in memory of the 1558 battle against the Turkish army. Be sure to visit the craft market held in the same place during the summer months.


Another must-see is the Cathedral of Santa Maria, built between the 13th and 14th centuries. Its neoclassical main façade and beautiful wooden pews in the interior stand out.


You must not miss Ses Voltes street, the Plaça Nova, the Mercat des Peix, the Baroque jewel of Can Saura, and the Castle of San Nicolau, among many other places of interes

Port of Ciutadella

A good way to get to know the island's gastronomic delights is to take a stroll around the port of Ciutadella, where you will find many restaurants to try delicious rice, fish, or seafood dishes. We recommend the typical lobster dish with potatoes and fried egg. A delicacy!


You can also take a leisurely stroll along the Paseo del Muelle, with exceptional views of the many fishing and pleasure boats and the old fishermen's houses.
